Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. You get a little bit of both in The Bard's Tale, a new action/RPG from the folks at inXile, a company founded by computer role-playing godfather Brian Fargo, a gaming pioneer partially responsible for such revered titles as Wasteland and Fallout. If anyone knows the clich?s and stupid trappings of RPGs, it's him he helped invent most of them.

That's why its fitting that his latest game should be this, The Bard's Tale, a satire and send-up of every role-playing clich? you've ever encountered. Stupidly-placed switches, Chosen Ones, trapped princesses, wolves that drop swords when they die, and every rat-slaying quest you've ever encountered are all lambasted and roasted within. The gameplay is reminiscent of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath, but the sense of humor is all new.
