Making Of EverQuest II
PC
Developer: Sony Online Entertainment | Publisher: Sony Online | Release Date: November 8 |
Lives, friendships, marriages, and PC role-playing were all changed forever when Sony introduced the world to EverQuest in 1999. It wasn't the first MMORPG ever made, but it was the first one to actually prove MMO-ing was more than just something for the hyper-geek crowd.though what that "more" turned out to be is another story entirely.
Now SOE's trying to change role-playing history yet again with EverQuest II, a second foray into the world of Norrath. EQII starts several hundred years after EverQuest left off. The game is currently in beta, and our experience has been really positive so far. The visuals are spectacular-a blend of real and surreal with tons of detail in its environments and character models-though a bit hard on your PC. The gameplay is once again very grouping- and socially-oriented, as monsters and other foes now team up to take on your questing parties. The game is also the first MMO to feature a world full of fully- voiced NPCs (non-player characters), a feature that really does a ton to add to the "immersion" factor of the game. Among the voice-acting talent: Heather Graham and The Lord of the Rings star Christopher Lee. Watch them talk about their experience and the EQ phenomenon in this video.
